NOJ&HF Grant Funds Music Therapy Project at Crossroads Louisiana, Inc.
The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation awarded Crossroads Louisiana, Inc. a $3,500 grant to support our music therapy program. Funding from the NOJ&HF allows Crossroads to provide twice-weekly music therapy sessions for 15 of our intellectually challenged clients.
Program services, provided by Crescent City Music Therapy Services, combine music, dance, and movement in one-hour sessions on Mondays and Fridays. The goal of the project is to significantly improve the social functioning level of our clients, by enhancing behavioral and communication skills, and instilling a sense of community and belonging among participants.
Research clearly shows that music and other art forms have profoundly positive impact on individuals with cognitive disabilities. Thank you to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation for making our music therapy program possible.
