NOJ&HF grant funds music therapy project at Crossroads
The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation awarded Crossroads Louisiana a 3,500 grant to support our music therapy program. Funding from the NOJ&HF allows rossroads to provide twice-weekly music therapy sessions for 15 of our intellectually challenged clients.
Program services, provided by Crescent City Music Therapy Services, combine music, dance, and movement in one-hour sessions on Mondays and Fridays. The goal of the project is to significantly improve the social functioning level of our clients, by enhancing behavioral and communication skills, and instilling a sense of community and belonging among participants.
Research clearly shows that music and other art forms have a profoundly positive impact on individuals with cognitive disabilities. Thank you to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation for making our music therapy program possible.
